YOU can save lives by staffing Offsite Micro Adoption Events!

Most people don’t go to an animal shelter when they decide to bring a new dog or cat into their family. They find their companions through friends, family, co-workers, found strays, social media, and other community connections. But when people can no longer care for those animals, many ultimately enter the shelter system. 

Offsite Micro Adoption Events help close that gap. 

Instead of waiting for potential adopters to visit the shelter, California Humane Society works with local animal shelters and community partners to bring adoptable animals out of the shelter and into everyday community spaces where potential adopters work, shop, and play. 

Each event is intentionally small: a few adoptable animals and a trained volunteer team in an accessible community location, such as, community centers, city parks, local breweries and pubs, and corporate locations.

You don’t have to volunteer every weekend. Staffing just one or two events each month can make a difference. Multiply that by several volunteer teams operating at different locations throughout the community, and we create a consistent network of opportunities for shelter animals to be seen, meet people, form connections, and find homes.
